Our team of qualified providers offers the best care and attention for our pediatric patients. We offer routine and sick visits, with developmental screenings and vaccinations.
The goal of a wellness visit is to promote good health and focus on preventative care. This is a time to discuss the well-being of the child when there are no active issues going on. We monitor the child’s growth by reviewing height and weight. We will monitor BMI (body mass index) to identify signs of early obesity. We screen for vision and hearing. We spend time discussing any developmental, behavioral, and emotional concerns as well. We believe that early identification and intervention of any problems is important. We counsel parents on safety issues and discuss ways to prevent injury. Finally, this is a time to talk about prevention of serious infectious diseases with the appropriate immunizations.
Infants and toddlers will need to come in fairly often during the first few years of life. School age children should visit us once a year for the a wellness checkup. Even if you feel your child is healthy and doing well, the wellness visit is still recommended. It allows us to further our relationship with your child, build trust, and promote continuity of care. The better we know your child, the easier it is to help with any acute issues that arise.
It is always our hope that these wellness visits find your child healthy and happy. Sometimes there are minor health issues that arise and can be handled at the time of the visit; however, if there are more time-consuming health concerns, a follow-up visit may be needed in the interest of time.
