Specialized Care For The Entire Family
Internal Medicine & Pediatrics of Tampa Bay provides numerous medical services for patients of all ages.
Are you expecting a new baby and looking for a pediatrician? We offer complementary prenatal visits and tours of our office. We recommend you schedule a meet and greet with one of our four board-certified pediatricians. This is a perfect opportunity for you to ask questions and see if our practice is right for you and your family.
Having a new baby is exciting, but can be very overwhelming. We are there from the beginning to answer all of your questions and help you on the amazing journey.
We are a unique practice, in that we can provide care for all ages. We specialize in newborns and children, but also have doctors who are trained in adult medicine. This provides great convenience for our families who want to get all of their health care done in one office. We have been taking care of families in the Westchase community and surrounding areas of Tampa for over ten years.
We focus on preventative care in our office and encourage our patients of all ages to get annual physicals. Our goal is to help our patients stay healthy, and not just to be there in times of sickness.
We strive to provide a greater access for our patients through the secure online patient portal or via an app on your phone. The portal can be used to ask questions, see lab results and request prescription refills. It is a convenient way for you to communicate with our office for your health care needs.
We do our best to refill prescription medications in a timely matter. We participate in electronic prescriptions to make the process more convenient and efficient. We are able to send these “escripts” to local pharmacies as well as most mail-away pharmacies. Requests can be made by calling our office during business hours, sending a message through the patient portal, or having the pharmacy contact us directly. Please allow 2 to 3 business days for all refills to be completed. Note that refills for chronic medical issues may require an office visit, if you have not seen the doctor recently.
We provide the convenience of in-house lab draw for patients during regularly scheduled office visits. Our nurses and medical assistants are trained in phlebotomy. This prevents an additional trip to a lab draw center. Often these labs are done fasting, so be aware to skip breakfast the morning of your appointment. Water is suggested and please take all medications as prescribed the morning of your appointment. If patients prefer, lab slips can be provided to get the testing done at an outside lab draw center.
Our providers make every attempt to be available for our patients when the office is closed. For any life-threatening emergency, please call 911 or go to the nearest ER. You can reach our on-call service after hours by calling our office number (813) 961-2222. The on-call service will page one of our medical providers who will be able to assist you. Please note, non-urgent matters, such as an appointment request or prescription refills will only be handled during our regular business hours.
We believe that vaccines are one of the best ways to keep our community healthy and prevent serious disease in all ages. We educate our patients and families on the benefits of vaccines and also discuss the recent controversies that are in the news. We are well-trained in the routine vaccination schedule per the CDC and also counsel patients who may require vaccines for international travel.
Dr. Frank Demery, Dr. Mark Bilella, and Dr. Karen Ackley, are all board-certified pediatricians and members of the American Academy of Pediatrics. All three of our pediatricians are trained to handle most acute and chronic medical issues. Dr. Demery and Dr. Bilella are unique in that they are also board-certified in Internal Medicine. This means they can see patients of all ages, which makes our office extremely convenient for families. Tera Ritchie and Kristin Gross are board certified in family medicine and can also see patients of all ages.
Dr. Demery and Dr. Bilella founded this practice in 2003 and have been caring for families in the Westchase and surrounding areas ever since. It is our goal to remain an independent primary care practice, so that we can provide a higher quality of health care to our community. It has been a pleasure watching our families grow up over the years and help keep them in good health.
